Science Vocabulary for the Unit

Below is a list of voacbulary will will be discussing in Science.  This is a great thing to talk about and go over at home!

 
Weather is the condition of the atmosphere in a certain place at a certain time.
 

 

 

 Wind is moving air caused by the uneven heating of the Earth’s surface.
A front is the place where one air mass meets and pushes aside another air mass.

Air pressure is the weight of air pushing on everything around it.
The water cycle is the change of water from one state to another as it moves between Earth’s surface and the atmosphere.

Evaporation – process of liquid turning into a gas
PrecipitationWater that falls to the Earth’s surface as rain, snow, sleet or hail.

Accumulation - The collection of water, such as a stream, puddle or lake.
Condensation - To change from a gas to a liquid as the temperature decreases.

 Ground water is water that collects underground in cracks and spaces in rocks.
Run off is water that is not absorbed into the ground, instead flows into streams or other collection areas.
